Atmore (AL) – Atmore Community Hospital (ACH) announced today that Leah Williams has been named the Community Champion for Atmore Community Hospital (ACH). Williams joins ACH to act a liaison for the Delta Region Community Health Systems Development (DRCHSD) Program. Through the DRCHSD Program, the Delta Regional Authority (DRA) and Federal Office of Rural Health Policy (FORHP) have partnered to support rural communities with an opportunity to receive intensive technical assistance.
Williams, a native of South Alabama has been serving as Grand Jury Supervisor in the Mobile District Attorney’s office for the last 31 years. Prior to that, she worked as Metzgers Clothing in Mobile.
“We are looking forward to Leah serving as community champion,” stated Brad Lowery, Hospital Administrator. “Leah will begin building community engagement opportunities and working with the National Rural Health Resource Center to build awareness of our services. She will also be assisting in identifying community health needs.”
Williams is a graduate of Shaw High School in Mobile, Ala. She loves charity work and has been on the board at Penelope House for the last 12 years. She also has been married for 40 years and has one son and 7 grandkids. Williams was born at Atmore Community Hospital and moved from Atmore in the 6th grade. She stated that she is happy to be back home.
