Atmore (AL) - Atmore Community Hospital (ACH) celebrates the grand opening and ribbon cutting for their Atmore Urgent Care. The ceremony for the new Atmore Urgent Care located across from Wind Creek Casino on Highway 21 in Atmore, Ala. was held on Monday, August 29.
Many of the project partners were on hand for the ceremony. Escambia County Health Care Authority (ECHCA) Board, project manager - Johnson Development; architect - Goodwyn | Mills | Cawood, construction lead - Hoar Construction; procurement - Cripe; lending institution - United Bank; and local community leaders, The Escambia County Commission, and of the City of Atmore.
"It is a great day for the future of Atmore Community Hospital and the healthcare of area communities." stated Brad Lowery, Hospital Administrator. "We continue to work to expand programs designed at assisting community business with their healthcare needs as well as community health initiatives. By adding Atmore Urgent Care, we move one step closer to accomplishing our goal."
The New Atmore Urgent Care facility will be staffed by providers Matthew Barnett, CRNP, Keith Classen, CRNP and Alison Gibson, CRNP. The new urgent care will offer non emergent care and increased access to healthcare for Atmore and surrounding communities. This will replace the current walk-in clinic (ACH MedPlus), expanding it to a fully functioning Urgent Care. The building that is currently ACH MedPlus will become ACH Specialty Care and will house visiting physicians and clinics on a rotating basis. The goal is to increase the number of visiting specialties offered each month.
Care at the new Urgent Care Clinic will feature a lab, x-ray equipment, a pharmacy, and wellness care. The Urgent Care Clinic will work in coordination with Atmore Community Hospital as its parent organization and will be symbiotic with the other ACH physician clinics.
"This is the first step of many in a goal that will conclude with a new Atmore Hospital and medical office buildings," stated Lowery. "It has been a real team effort thus far to get the Atmore Urgent Care open and serving our community. We now begin looking to the future and the progress we'll make in the months ahead.
