Atmore (AL) - Mammography, CT and Ultrasound Get Certifications and Upgrades as Atmore Community Hospital Adds Radiology Services and Upgrades Equipment.
Atmore Community Hospital (ACH) announced in mid-February that they had partnered with Montgomery Radiology Associates. Since that announcement, ACH has been busy securing a new CT scanner and new ultrasound machine that are both scheduled to be in service this month. In addition, the digital mammography machine received the ACR reaccreditation seal of approval in February of 2020.
"The radiology team has been working very hard over the last several months." Said Suzanne McGill, ACH Interim Administrator. "Not only have we added the 24-hour reading capability by partnering with Montgomery Radiology, our radiology team also was working on upgrading equipment and getting our hospital prepared to fully support our community."
The radiology team at ACH worked with Montgomery Radiology Associates to begin providing imaging and interventional services to ACH with 24/7 coverage . The team also worked to upgrade the hospitals CT scanner. The upgraded CT scanner will feature a 128-slice scanner, which is only 1 of 2 in the region. This new scanner will allow for cleaner images and will emit less radiation than older models. The radiology department also received a new ultrasound machine that will be able to be used in multiple patient visits by many different physicians and specialties. And in February the ACR reaccredited the digital mammography machine.
"We have been busy obtaining equipment, recertifications and implementing the right services for our community." said Alisha Stabler, ACH Radiology Manager. "Our team is dedicated to providing the best care possible to our community."
